A quick and easy chart.

FACTS: The Geomancer was the Querent. He asked whether Ghana would win its match against Portugal in the World Cup yesterday.

GEOMANCER ANALYSIS: Ghana in House 1 had a CONJUNCTION with the figure of House 10, PUER, which jumped to House 2. Portugal, in House 7, had perfection only by TRANSLATION with House 10 (ACQUISITIO in HOUSES 8 and 9). Ghana also had better reception with House 10 than Portugal. Because CONJUNCTION is stronger than TRANSLATION, the Geomancer thought it was very clear from the chart that Ghana would win, and was very surprised when Ghana did not.

He wrote to me asking for an explanation inasmuch as, according to my instruction, Ghana should have won. I respectfully dissent.

MAGISTER's CLARIFYING QUESTIONS:

(1) There are two significant rules operating here on HOUSE 7 that the Geomancer has ignored. What are they? If you need a hint, look at the tags of this post.

(2) Both rules are very helpful for Portugal. Which of the two rules is utterly destructive for Ghana?

There is a perfection by conjuction from house 10 to house 2. The reception is Acquistio, a figure of victory.

There is a perfection by translation from ACQUISTIO from house 8 to house 9 and from house 6 to house 9. The reception is CAUDA, a figure of loss.

Ghana Wins.

Combustion : fortuna major in house 7 combust house 1. A combustion is à destruction of the house, not of the figure. Ghana might have still being happy (LAETITIA) but their chance of Victory was entirely crushed by The Sun.

Fortuna Major is under Benefaction, this greatly increase their chance of victory.

It’s not just that Ghana losses, it’s that Ghana 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘯.

Portugal wins.

Also while reception is often important, sometimes it’s not. In the company article you wrote that « reception in a company is sometimes not important, the only thing that matters is the fact that the figures are in company and that the second figure gives power to the first » but I took that to apply to reception with other figures of the chart too. The meaning can sometimes be TOO far away from the result and rather show a state of affairs rather than something coming. Maybe in this case, it simply means that Portugal approach the match with Pride & Arrogance (Fortuna Major) thinking that they’ll win, but it was more difficult (PUER) than they thought, stressing and Humbling them (CAUDA could mean a loss in self confidence)

Finally, I might be wrong on this one, but 2 translation with a figure as good as ACQUISTIO can beat a single conjuction from something like puer.
