A useful geomancy calculator is available at:

Here are some resources you may wish to consider in your study of Geomancy, the Art of Points and Planets. Keep in mind that all published resources contain some errors of correspondence and errors in judgment rules. Most of them are older texts, and the newer texts necessarily draw on, and repeat the errors of, the older texts. The living masters of Geomancy have corrected many of these errors over the last several hundred years, which means that, at present, it is an art best learned by word of mouth or personal instruction. Our collection of reference posts and chart posts contain much better traditional expositions of Geomancy than you will find in almost any published work. We, and you, in fact, are carrying the tradition of these past resources forward.

Still, the resources below may be interesting to have on hand to stimulate your imagination when interpreting charts. Remember, though, not to follow any "cookbook" approach to Geomancy slavishly. Have your wits in your head, and not in your books, and those two great Geomancers--Professor Reason and Professor Experience--will teach you much!

If you have any resources you would like to have added to this page, please let us know.

AGRIPPA, CORNELIUS: The Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy
Available for viewing at: https://www.renaissanceastrology.com/agrippageomancy.html
Agrippa wrote an article "On Geomancy" included in the above-titled work. We do not follow his method of assigning the Shield Figures to the Wheel Chart (we follow the method of Cattan, below, instead). He gives an interpretation of each of the Figures in each of the Twelve Houses, which you may find mildly useful for inspiration when you are stuck on an interpretation.

CASE, JOHN: The Angelical Guide
see: https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21AESjV24j4ySgrXU&cid=2709E41E745116A5&id=2709E41E745116A5%21548&parId=2709E41E745116A5%21231&o=OneUp
Dated 1697, London. An old work, but it contains some example charts, as well as a description of each of the Figures in each of the Houses.

CATTAN, CHRISTOPHER: The Geomancie of Maister Christopher Cattan, Gentleman; London, 1591.
PDF available at: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Geomancie_of_Maister_Christopher_Cattan_Gentleman.pdf
This is an excellent book, although he uses different zodiacal and elemental correspondences for the Figures than are used in our references and charts. He deals with the concepts of PERFECTION and ASPECT. And he discusses the Twelve Houses, the various questions which belong to each, and an interpretation of the Figures in each of the Twelve Houses. He was a source for John Heydon (below). This book has not been reprinted in modern typeface, so is very difficult to read in some spots. Some of Cattan's charts have been rejudged in our collection of practice charts.

CROWLEY, ALEISTER: Crowley wrote a cookbook manual on Geomancy, largely copying from earlier works. It is not worth investigating. Almost nothing the Golden Dawn tradition writes of Geomancy is valuable. Safely ignored.

CUMMINS, DR. ALEXANDER: Dr. Cummins is a modern geomancer who offers geomantic readings and basic and advanced courses of instruction in Geomancy. We have never seen a chart judged by him, so you will have to do your own assessment. You can also find Dr. Cummins on Instagram under the name grimoiresontape.
see: https://wolf-and-goat.com/Services/geomancy.html
see: http://www.alexandercummins.com/

FACEBOOK: There are several Geomancy groups on Facebook. We once examined a few of them and found them plagued with outright idiocy, one-up-man-ship, bad logic, and poor judgment. Still, if you want to wade through them, they are available.

FLUDD, ROBERT: Utriusque Cosmi Maioris Scilicet et Minoris Metaphysica
Available for limited viewing in English at: https://www.scribd.com/document/136734132/Block-Flu-Dds-Rules
With a trial for or subscription to scribd, you can view the whole document. Mr. Samuel Block has translated the Geomancy sections from Robert Fludd's Utriusque Cosmi from Latin into English. We have also read an old French translation of the same, Traité de Géomancie, and it has been republished comparatively recently, if you read French:

https://www.amazon.com/Trait%C3%A9-g%C3%A9omancie-geomantia-Etude-macrocosme/dp/B0167XR542/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=geomancie+fludd&qid=1598574333&s=books&sr=1-1

Fludd gives brief judgment rules for many types of questions, but many of his rules do not make sense, and others have been definitively proven wrong by experiment and experience. He also nods off a little here and there. For instance, he asserts that the figure PUER is "in fall in the fifteenth" position, which is the place of the Judge. Mathematically, however, PUER can never serve as the Judge. Fludd's methodology for Geomancy does not treat of PERFECTION, ASPECT, or RECEPTION. We may be mistaken, but we do not believe that any complete Geomancy judgments survive from Fludd. There is, however, a relatively brief autobiographical account of his experiences with Geomancy in Avignon during the winter of 1601/1602, and you may see a PDF of that document here:

https://b-ok.cc/book/956750/95c30e

The document also contains Fludd's theory of how and why Geomancy works.

FORMAN, SIMON:
see: https://casebooks.lib.cam.ac.uk/reading-the-casebooks/who-were-the-practitioners/simon-forman
Forman (1552-1611) was a doctor, geomancer, and astrologer practicing in England. He kept copious notes of his judgments and readings. The University of Cambridge has preserved and digitized many cases from his casebooks, and some of these contain geomancy charts, often alongside astrological horary, decumbiture, or natal charts. If you don't mind wading through many web pages (the site is not set up very well) for transcriptions that contain a geomancy chart, this may be a good resource. We may eventually redo some of Forman's judgments as practice charts.

GASCON, ROGER: FABULOUS GEOMANCY
A modern cookbook-type of geomancy is presented in this book. For each Figure, he gives an interpretation on topics such as money, steps to take, home life, love, changes, job, the attitude of others, supports, obstacles, inner life, trips, and hopes/plans. He gives a method for using dice to cast four Figures, and then interpreting those four Figures in terms of the Four Elements. Three additional Figures are then derived from the first four Figures. The last section covers a method for determining the geomantic Figure governing the Year, Month, Day, and Hour, as well as a geomantic method for finding a favorable day for an activity.

GREER, JOHN MICHAEL: Earth Divination, Earth Magic: A Practical Guide to Geomancy
GREER, JOHN MICHAEL: The Art and Practice of Geomancy
Greer's books are good starting points for acquiring the technique and vocabulary of Geomancy, in both Shield and Astrological forms. Each book contains chapters on Geomantic magic and sigils. The first book also contains an English translation (from Latin) of Pietro de Abano of Padua's short text on Geomancy, which was much consulted in the 14th to 16th centuries. The second book also contains information on Geomantic meditation and scrying. There are errors in the rules of judgment, which were probably derived from Robert Fludd, other medieval geomancers, and Arabic texts. Still, they are the best books that are currently publicly available.

HARTMANN, FRANZ: The Principles of Astrological Geomancy
Available at: https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.501958/page/n5/mode/2up
Mildly useful as a reference, particularly if you are fond of a cookbook approach to asking certain "canned" questions, then looking up the answer by Witnesses and Judge. He uses different elemental and zodical correspondences for the Figures than do we. He discusses each of the Figures in each of the Twelve Houses, and that might also be mildly useful as a reference for inspiration if you are stuck on the interpretation of a particular figure.

HEYDON, JOHN: Theomagia, or The Temple of Wisdome
PDF available at: https://openlibrary.org/works/OL15558535W/Theomagia_or_The_temple_of_wisdome
This edition was published in London in 1663. It contains chapters on each of the Twelve Houses and what questions Heydon centered in them. There are also chapters detailing interpretations of the Figures in each of the Twelve Houses, as well as chapters on how to interpret a figure jumping from one House to another. There are also some interesting chart forms used through the practical section of the book.

POLYPHANES (aka SAMUEL BLOCK, DIGITAL AMBLER): Blog

This gentleman has kept a blog about Geomancy for many years. The above link will take you to an index of his postings. There are many topics to explore, but very few chart judgments, so far as I have seen. He also maintains an Etsy shop, where he offers for sale two of his PDF books on Geomancy.

REGARDIE, ISRAEL: Regardie wrote a cookbook manual on Geomancy, largely copying from earlier works. It is not worth investigating. Almost nothing the Golden Dawn tradition writes of Geomancy is valuable. Safely ignored.

SCHWEI, PRISCILLA, and PESTKA, RALPH: The Complete Book of Astrological Geomancy
This book presents a hybrid method of Geomancy combined with the placement of the planets Sun through Pluto at the time the chart is cast, so it is rather a combination of Geomancy and Horary Astrology. The book is mostly made up of chapters detailing the interpretation of the Figures in various Houses when combined with the planets. It is not traditional Geomancy, and does not deal with such matters as PERFECTION, ASPECT, or RECEPTION. The chart examples are poor, often going very far afield from the question asked. It contains an interesting section on the correspondences of the Planets (occupations, hobbies, and activities), but that is about the only thing mildly useful in the book. Some might find the interpretation of the Figures in each House (with no planet present) somewhat instructive, but it ends up being a bit too cookbook-ish.

SKINNER, STEPHEN: The Oracle of Geomancy, Techniques of Earth Divination
A fairly comprehensive treatment of the Figures and the Twelves Houses, along with an interpretation of each Figure in each House (largely taken from older works like Cattan and Heydon, above). It presents several methods of shield and astrological geomancy, but does not treat of PERFECTION, ASPECT, and RECEPTION.

SKINNER, STEPHEN: Terrestrial Astrology, Divination by Geomancy
A great little book. Part One contains the history and development of Geomancy in Islamic, African, and European countries, from the earliest historical mentions of it to the modern day. Part Two contains the practical aspect of the book, showing Shield and Astrological methods of interpreting charts. The Appendices are very interesting, as they collect the various astrological and elemental correspondences of the Figures across many sources, as well as a couple different methods of assigning the Shield figures to the Twelve Houses. Another appendix gives the names of the Figures in Arabic, Greek, Latin, Hebrew, and several African languages. A basic survey book. You cannot learn Geomancy from it. It does not cover, for instance, the concepts of PERFECTION, ASPECT, or RECEPTION.

WEBSTER, RICHARD: GEOMANCY FOR BEGINNERS
A basic introduction to shield and astrological geomancy. Does not treat of topics such as PERFECTION, ASPECT, or RECEPTION.
