The inquiry is: How do the 28 Lunar Mansions correspond to the Figures of Geomancy, and how are the Mansions used in Geomancy?
As I understand it, the Mansions of the Moon were developed in ancient China, somewhere before 500 B.C. to 200 B.C. The Zodiac was divided into 28 sections of 12 and 4/5 degrees each, and each section was called a Mansion. The meaning of each Mansion was keyed to a constellation or asterism or other fixed star or grouping of fixed stars within that Mansion. Just as the Sun had 12 signs through which it passed during a solar year, the Moon had 28 mansions through which it passed during a lunar month.
Unfortunately, because the fixed stars move at a rate of about ONE DEGREE every 72 YEARS, the original meaning of each Mansion is no longer keyed to the proper fixed stars. This makes the idea of the Mansions fairly useless even in natal astrology. It is far better to analyze a chart within the context of the fixed stars than the Mansions.
We do not use fixed stars in Geomancy. Therefore, there is no use for the 28 Mansions in Geomancy. I have never seen a chart interpretation where they were used. My advice is to ignore them in both geomancy and astrology.
